adidas Malaysia welcomed the return of ‘Run For The Oceans’ for the third consecutive year, this time with adidas Runners Kuala Lumpur (ARKL) hosting an 8KM run to support the cause.
Close to 523 local adidas creators, adidas runners KL members and media friends came in hand to celebrate the cause at Putrajaya Challenge Park.
“The ‘Run For The Oceans’ movement intends to raise awareness on the threat of marine plastic pollution, and we are excited to have ARKL spearheading this movement in Malaysia. adidas recognises the fragility of our oceans, hence why the brand partnered up with Parley for the Oceans and we do what we can to bring this awareness to Kuala Lumpur for the third consecutive year,” said Cheng Yikhoong, Senior Manager Brand Activation, adidas Malaysia.

“We believe that sport has the power to change lives and this is reflected today. ARKL acts as a platform that gives like-minded runners the opportunity to join a collective running movement that fights marine plastic pollution,” he added.

From 8 June until 16 June, adidas pledged to match every kilometre run tracked on the Runtastic phone app (capped at US$ 1.5 million) in support of the Parley Ocean School initiative to provide education for the next generation about the Earth’s vast waters and teaches them about the impacts of marine plastic pollution.

As part of the global adidas Runners network, this campaign has inspired runners worldwide to leave a positive impact for our oceans. ‘Run For the Oceans’ in KL is one of the many continuations of adidas and Parley’s long partnership, and the 8KM run is followed by a live performance and educational video showcasing the dire state of the ocean and marine lives, reflecting on how we can contribute to curb this problem.
